Mirrors don’t have special powers.
They present a current, flawless view of all surrounding items in sight.
Not meant to introduce panic by checking between the mirror and your suggestions.
A continuous glance back and forth with a refusal to accept the reflection.
Confusion that your reality might not be your wishes.
Let it serve the purpose of being just a reflection mechanism.
Not a crystal ball speaking into your future.
Don’t express anger that the prayer list is not being represented.
An invitation for depression due to ignorance of the warning.
Life is not a fairy tale, because the mirror could only show the current state.
Don’t allow words of defeat to seep with corresponding actions to crash the mirror.
Temporary relief might be granted at the physical attack on the reflection.
BUT, why not examine the imagery more careful.
Accept it is only your current state.
With the alignment of God’s will all things can change.

Why is the Lord bringing us to this land only to let us fall by the sword? Our wives and children will be taken as plunder.Wouldn’t it be better for us to go back to Egypt?” 4 And they said to each other, “We should choose a leader and go back to Egypt.” Numbers 14 3:4 NIV
I must admit scriptures like Numbers 14 3:4 can scare me. Why? Everyone will experience disappointment. It almost feels natural to respond negatively to the situation without preemptive praise to God. My educated self tells me I would have been with Joshua, but it can be hard to understand God when the current situation speaks so loud. God had answered the Israelites' prayers to rescue them, but they were complaining about wanting to return. That sounds crazy! Who wants to go back to slavery? They did!
Maybe, it was a lousy attempt to obtain pity from God, but they received the wrath instead. Some died from a plague, and others were forced to live out the words they had spoken. I believe there is nothing wrong with questioning God, but it is best to be intentional with your comments. Our lives are not our own. We are here to live out a purpose. What if they changed their thoughts to believe a different narrative that was not heavily focused on their current situation? One that started with being rescued from the Egyptians, the faith-building activity of living in the wilderness and ending with God's instructions to take Canaan. The poem emphasizes that reflection is excellent, but the warning is our view is limited to the present. This scripture warns that consistent complaining is not the path to God's sympathy.
I am writing this to warn you about the words you speak. When your current situation does not match the dreams, you believe. I would suggest finding something positive to focus on with praise to God followed by a gentle request for understanding.
